About the Lecture Series

Explore the subtle, interconnected, and counterintuitive nature of quantum physics, and delve into the fascinating dialogue connecting agency, free will, and intention.

"Phenomena such as nonlocality, entanglement, and the observer's role challenge the classical picture of an entirely objective reality."

Conceptual Note

Over the past decade, foundational questions in quantum physics—such as subjectivity, the meaning of the wavefunction, non-locality, free will, and the role of agency—as well as philosophical inquiries into the nature of consciousness, selfhood, mind, and free will, have increasingly transcended traditional disciplinary boundaries.

At the same time, recent advances in quantum foundations, including agent-based approaches, have provided new perspectives on long-standing paradoxes. These frameworks explore how agent-dependent descriptions can be consistently formulated within quantum theory while also examining the scope and limits of purely third-person or objective accounts.

In this spirit, the lecture series on Quanta, Mind & Agency aims to examine whether agency and intention genuinely exist and, if so, whether they play any role in physical processes. It also explores how subjectivity enters into interpretations of quantum mechanics, whether and how conscious observation figures in physical theory, and what the relationship between mind and matter might be.
