It is our distinct pleasure to invite you to the Summer School – 2026, centred on the foundational theme of “Thought Experiments.” Scheduled from June 05 to 07, 2026, this three-day program will be hosted at IIT BHU (Varanasi). Thought experiments are powerful tools that foster creativity, deepen understanding, and advance knowledge across science, philosophy, and spirituality. Starting from Faraday’s lines of force, which were later concretised as fields, to quantum mechanical paradoxes such as Schrodinger’s Cat paradox, thought experiments have been part of modern scientific disciplines. They help us to penetrate into areas where physical experiments cannot be performed, providing a conceptual bridge to the unknown.
To lead this exploration, we have assembled a globally recognized panel of experts including Prof. Vlatko Vedral (University of Oxford, ENG); Prof. James Robert Brown (University of Toronto, CA); Prof. Abhas K. Mitra (Former Head, Theoretical Astrophysics Section, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, IND); Prof. Sandeep Kumar (IIT BHU Varanasi, IND); Prof. Ramesh Kumar Mishra (University of Hyderabad, IND); Dr. Jaynarayan T Tudu (IIT Tirupati, IND); Dr. Dheeraj Kumar Dube (IIT Mandi, IND); and many others.
The core topics for discussion will cover a diverse range of scientific inquiries, such as the interface of Mind and Matter; the Irreducibility of Life and the exploration of Unknown Laws of Nature; formal inquiries into the Underlying Intelligence in Nature; the inquiry into whether the Universe is Designed or Random; and the integration of Wisdom, Ethics, and Inner Growth within the scientific temperament and many more.
Complementing the technical sessions, the program includes specialised attractions, including interactive dialogues with learned scholars, panel discussions, and a serene boat ride on the Sacred Ganges, providing a unique environment for quiet contemplation and shared discovery.
